Role Overview

Vario is a market leading alternative legal services provider within the law firm, Pinsent Masons. It is unique in the legal sector. Vario is a practice group within Pinsent Masons which incorporates; Flexible Services, Consulting and Technology, Legal Project Management and Managed Legal Services (MLS).

The Legal Operations and Tech Consulting group helps in-house legal leaders with their challenges in service delivery, organisation design and culture, resourcing strategies, efficiency, cost reduction and technology including practical applications of AI.

The legal technology team provides services to the firm's clients, including:
  • Technology advisory support
  • Technology implementation services
  • Contracting technology and services "CLM-as-a-Service"
Our core focus is on working with our clients, primarily in-house legal teams, to assess and implement technologies in support of their own legal practices.

We are recruiting a Legal Engineer to support end-to-end CLM implementation projects including requirements gathering, solution design, configuration, testing, deployment and post-go-live support.

The Legal Engineer is responsible for configuration and implementation on selected core technologies, including, but not limited to - ContractPodAi CLM & LeAh Gen AI, Agiloft, Microsoft 365 and HighQ/Contract Express. This will involve using no-code/low-code and admin features of the tools to configure contract templates, approval workflows and perform user admin tasks.

Your primary responsibility will be hands-on technical configuration and 1st & 2nd line client support and you will be expected to become conversant in these and other technologies as needed. Training will be provided.

As a Legal Engineer, you will be expected to understand the context for each client and assist in designing solutions including process mapping, documenting organisational structures and template automation. Template automation will involve assessing client precedent templates, reviewing and updating markup notations and consolidating templates.

This role focuses on:
  • Informing, reviewing and clarifying business requirements
  • Advising on capabilities of our technology platform and whether and how they can support these requirements
  • Developing prototypes to illustrate potential solutions
  • End to end implementation and support of solutions
  • Design, developing and coding workflow processes and rules
  • Coding of email templates for use in workflow
  • Template coding and automation; that is coding of legal documents for automated production via a questionnaire
  • Forms design and coding e.g. request intake forms
  • Dashboard and report development
  • Providing data exports for use in data management and reporting systems
  • Responding to, and resolving, support requests from clients and internal stakeholders
  • Create and maintain documentation and trackers including project management updates, solution design documents and support and request management
  • User admin including adding, disabling and assign access rights according to agreed client protocols
  • Liaising with other, including client, technology teams (e.g., for integrations, support, authentication, InfoSec governance)
Our standard working hours are 9.30am-5.30pm, however, we are happy to consider flexible working requests.

Candidate Overview

We are looking for candidates who ideally hold the following skills and experience:
  • Experience in no-code and lo-code environments, Microsoft 365, document automation, chat bots and workflow automation tools
  • An understanding of the contracting lifecycle from drafting to post-execution management
  • Fluency in French, German or Spanish would be an advantage but not essential
  • Interest and curiosity in technology and ability to explore and self-teach on core technologies
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and agile way rapidly responding to changing requirements
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities, with experience completing projects with minimal direction
  • Strong focus with a high attention to detail
  • Positive team player with ability to collaborative with technical and non-technical delivery partners
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Creative and logic abilities to solve complex or new problems
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
