Legal Counsel - Public Sector (Permanent)

Role Overview

A leading UK-based SaaS provider is seeking a capable and motivated Legal Counsel to join its Commercial Legal Team, supporting the public sector business unit. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to strategic growth across the UK and Ireland, working closely with business stakeholders to deliver practical, commercially focused legal advice.

Reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel, you will be responsible for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts, managing legal risk, and supporting compliance with public sector frameworks and data protection regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements including MSAs, customer contracts, RFP responses, supplier and partner agreements, licensing terms, escrow agreements, call-off contracts, and data processing agreements
  • Collaborate with Sales and Go-to-Market teams to support deal execution
  • Advise on privacy and data protection matters, escalating where necessary
  • Ensure compliance with UK public sector contracts and frameworks
  • Support strategic initiatives including partner agreements, M&A activity, AI-related legal considerations, and cross-functional collaboration

Candidate Profile

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualified solicitor (or equivalent) with 3-5 years PQE, ideally with in-house or public sector experience
  • Strong experience in commercial contracting and public procurement
  • Solid understanding of UK GDPR and data protection obligations
  • Ability to manage competing deadlines and deliver practical solutions
  • Commercially minded with excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • High accountability and commitment to quality outcomes
  • Proactive, team-oriented, and adaptable
