OneAdvanced is looking for a Public Sector focused Legal Counsel to support its Commercial Legal Team. This role involves drafting and negotiating various commercial contracts, ensuring compliance with public sector frameworks, and providing legal support across functions. The ideal candidate will be a qualified solicitor with experience in the public sector and a strong understanding of data protection laws.
OneAdvanced is seeking a capable and motivated Public Sector focused Legal Counsel to join our dynamic Commercial Legal Team on a permanent basis. You will be the dedicated legal support for our public sector business unit, playing a key role in supporting the business to achieve its growth ambitions across the UK and Ireland.
Reporting to our Senior Legal Counsel, you will work closely with the wider business teams to provide practical, commercially focused legal advice and support. Your responsibilities include drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts, managing legal risks, and contributing to OneAdvanced's continued success while maintaining high legal and ethical standards.
Please note this role involves a hybrid working pattern at our Birmingham Mailbox office, 2-3 days per week.

Key Responsibilities include:
Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various commercial agreements for a leading SaaS provider, such as master services agreements, bespoke customer contracts, RFP responses, supplier agreements, partner agreements, licensing terms, escrow agreements, call-off contracts, and data processing agreements.
Supporting contract negotiations with Sales and Go-to-Market Teams to secure agreements with customers.
Understanding privacy and data protection principles to review and negotiate data processing terms, escalating issues to the Data Protection Office or Legal Director – Privacy, AI, Cyber as needed.
Ensuring familiarity with UK Public Sector contracts and frameworks to maintain compliance and best practices in relevant bids and agreements.
Providing legal support across diverse business functions and strategic initiatives, including partner and supplier agreements, potential M&A activities, AI-related legal considerations, and privacy matters.
Qualified solicitor (or equivalent) with 3-5 years relevant post-qualification experience, ideally gained in-house or within a reputable law firm—recent experience in a Public sector company in-house is preferred.
Extensive experience drafting, negotiating, and advising on a broad range of commercial contracts, including public sector contracts and frameworks.
Good understanding of data protection obligations (UK GDPR/DPAs).
Ability to manage competing deadlines and deliver practical solutions in a fast-paced environment.
Commercially minded with strong communication and collaboration skills.
