DHL Legal Services offers all business partners worldwide solution-oriented legal advice. We provide comprehensive support in contracts, negotiations, and processes with customers and suppliers, as well as in general litigation and commercial law matters.

Job Purpose:

You will join the Legal Services team, a division within GBS (the in-house services arm of DHL). As part of the team, you will be responsible for advising the business on its portfolio of freehold and leased properties and all Landlord and Tenant related matters (e.g., purchases and disposals, leases, sub-leases, variations and licences, sale and leasebacks, and site developments within the region). Your role will involve liaising greatly with surveyors within the Corporate Real Estate (CRE) team, other property-related stakeholders, and managing external counsel. Travel will be necessary when required to meet the business needs.

Business is contract-driven; hence the need to communicate with the business and negotiate with customers alongside the business. You will form an important link between CRE and Legal in managing transactions that involve property matters. You will identify and advise on mitigating risks, and have the ability to manage business expectations and work to deadlines. You will be expected to be proactive as well as reactive to the business in the services you provide.

Key Tasks:

  • Provide a comprehensive legal service on the property portfolio within the UK&I region.
  • Liaise with Legal and CRE (and other relevant stakeholders) on commercial/property-related matters to ensure transactions are coordinated.
  • Advise DSC on other legal aspects that affect its business, whether contractual or otherwise.
  • Answer all ad hoc queries raised by DSC.
  • Identify potential areas of risk and liability and advise on strategy for avoidance, minimisation and/or mitigation, as well as escalating any material issues within the business and legal department where required.
  • Provide legal updates and training to Legal and surveyors on recent legal developments, as necessary.
  • In conjunction with CRE, liaise and assist in the management of external legal counsel and monitor and minimise use of legal spend.
  • Be an integral member of the GBS Legal Services UK & Ireland team.
  • Attend various team meetings, know-how and training sessions, and conferences.
  • Integrate with CRE, who will form a key working stakeholder with you in your daily work.

Your profile:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience/qualification - UK qualified solicitor.
  • Preferably minimum of 3 years PQE.
  • Suitable level of experience working as a commercial property lawyer, specifically in Landlord and Tenant/Leasehold. Construction and property litigation experience would also be beneficial.
  • Ideally, experience of working in-house or in the logistics sector, but neither is a pre-requisite.
  • Commercial, pragmatic, and decisive in approach.
  • Self-confident and self-motivated with an ability to take the initiative and work autonomously, under pressure while managing priorities efficiently.

We offer:

  • Great opportunity to work for the biggest logistics company in the world.
  • International and virtual environment.
  • Flexibility and great opportunity to learn.
  • Tempting compensation and benefits.
  • Car / Car Allowance.
