Our client is an incredible independent award-winning studio creating film, series, advertising, interactive entertainment, and attractions. They also distribute and license their own brands. The business is fun, dynamic, creative, and busy.
We are looking for a qualified media lawyer with production experience to join the Business Affairs team on a 10-12 month fixed term maternity cover contract. The role reports to the Head of Business Affairs.
The Business Affairs team provides commercial advice and legal services to all departments within the business, including production and co-production, feature films, marketing, licensing, merchandising, commercials, and live events. The Department also advises on protecting the company’s intellectual property rights and brands.
The successful candidate must have experience in TV and/or film production. Ideally, you will also have some broader experience of rights, licensing/distribution, and media law.
Examples of relevant work include negotiating & drafting talent and crew agreements on various productions, liaising with agents and representatives where necessary, managing production development agreements, including music licensing agreements and post-production delivery requirements. Ideally, you will be able to lead on a production and provide/supervise the delivery of legal support throughout the duration of a production, including drafting and negotiating supplementary agreements (as appropriate) and providing day-to-day legal support.
We are looking for lawyers with proven drafting experience and a willingness to adapt to several different agreement types, together with excellent communication, presentation, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
