Overview

We seek an experienced lawyer to support Mastercard's Open Banking and Open API team, focusing on European and international development of open banking products and solutions. If you are motivated, curious, analytical, and enjoy legal challenges, this is an ideal opportunity.

Role

This role involves product development, commercial contracting, and legal support for daily business operations, including navigating legal and regulatory risks. Key responsibilities:

  1. Product Support: Provide legal support throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring compliance with policies, laws, and standards.
  2. Commercial Contracts: Draft, review, negotiate, and manage agreements with customers, suppliers, and partners.
  3. Dispute Resolution: Handle disputes with third parties.
  4. Stakeholder Management: Build relationships with internal teams and provide strategic legal advice.
  5. External Counsel Coordination: Manage external legal advisors within policies and budgets.

Roles evolve with business needs.

All About You

• Qualified lawyer with strong academics, ideally 2-5 years PQE but open to others.
• Ability to identify core legal issues and communicate clearly.
• Experience with commercial contracts, technology, or financial regulation.
• Experience supporting new product development is a plus.
• Knowledge of data privacy and intellectual property issues.
• Strong drafting, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Customer-focused, eager to learn, and collaborative.
• Proactive, organized, detail-oriented.
• Interest in financial services and payment tech preferred.
