Legal Counsel (Intellectual Property Counsel)– GBR

Position Summary

This is an exciting role for a UK or European jurisdiction qualified lawyer supporting SHEIN’s business and operations in the region. This will be a broad advisory role with a focus on IP and disputes related matters working directly with senior stakeholders across the business in our relevant global locations.

The successful candidate must be inquisitive, enthusiastic about e-commerce and innovation, enjoy a fast-paced environment and being continually challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing advice and legal support to the business on all IP and/or disputes related matters
  • Collaborating with the relevant business teams to ensure compliance and implementing and improving processes and procedures to enhance IP protection and IP infringement prevention
  • Keeping appraised of the latest laws and regulations impacting the company and its operations in the region and advise on best practice
  • Working closely with cross-disciplinary teams and the rest of the global legal team to conduct IP and disputes related risk assessments
  • Handling IP or other commercial disputes, including gathering evidence for litigation and liaising with external counsel, negotiating settlements, handling take-down notices and appeals
  • Providing day-to-day legal support to business teams and developing strategies for handling legal issues in creative, efficient, and business-centric ways

Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years (for legal counsel) of post-qualification at reputable law firm and/or large corporations. Good amount of in-house experience required
  • Extensive practical experience in IP and dispute resolution
  • Experience managing IP litigation before High Court and IPEC and organising evidence
  • Experience handling take-down notices on e-commerce platforms
  • High degree of independence, initiative, and good judgement. Commercial and pragmatic in your approach to legal advice whilst maintaining a strong sense of professional accountability and integrity
  • Experience and capacity to lead multi-jurisdictional projects and coordinate external advisors.
  • Ability to deliver results, both as an individual contributor and as a member of the EMEA and global legal teams.
