Job Description:

The Kantar Media Legal Team is not your typical group of suit-and-tie lawyers. We are committed to a no-nonsense approach to keeping the wheels turning in a constantly evolving media and legal landscape. We address sophisticated legal challenges with precision and creativity, ensuring that the company stays ahead of the curve while navigating the intricacies of global compliance, intellectual property, and data protection. The business depends on us to safeguard Kantar Media’s reputation, drive growth, and ensure that every deal and partnership is built on shown legal footing. As a team, we champion a culture of clarity, reasonableness, innovation and personal growth.

We are seeking a hard-working Legal Counsel to join our dynamic and collaborative global Legal Team. Your primary responsibility will be to provide commercial transaction support and strategic guidance across Kantar’s global Media business. You will partner with our international business colleagues to further develop Kantar’s global business and commercial products while leading legal risk, ensuring regulatory compliance, and negotiating commercial relationships across multiple jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Primary Focus: Drafting and negotiating commercial agreements with both our clients and suppliers.
  • Collaboration: Work with company leadership and business leads to understand business goals, translate legal risks into easy-to-understand concepts, and establish full alignment around legal processes and procedures that support growth while minimising risk.
  • Continuous Improvement: Improve our legal operations to support new customer and supplier agreements, products and services, and business risks.
  • External Partnerships: Partner with our external legal counsel as needed.
  • Legal Advice and Counsel: Act as a proactive legal contact for business clients across multiple regions, advising on a wide range of legal issues and providing deal support daily in various international markets.
  • Drafting and Negotiating: Negotiate and draft complex commercial agreements with global and regional suppliers and clients, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations in each jurisdiction.
  • Global Collaboration: Work directly with colleagues across Kantar’s global operations to analyse legal risks, devise creative solutions, and develop strong, trusted advisor relationships across diverse cultural and business environments.
  • Issue-Spotting and Risk Management: Demonstrate a keen ability to spot sensitive legal and business concerns across various legal systems, with a strong sense of when to escalate (and not escalate) matters within global teams, balancing local and global priorities.
  • Privacy and Data Protection: Drive cross-organisational input and company alignment on privacy and data protection terms in compliance with international regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, and other local laws, ensuring that Kantar’s policies are aligned with global standards.

Required

  • 3+ years of post-qualification experience (ideally UK or common law), gained in house or private practice (ideally from a large international or UK firm/company with exposure to cross border transactions). Experience negotiating and drafting a wide variety of commercial agreements.
  • Employment, intellectual property and/or privacy law experience.
  • Proficiency in legal-level English, both written and spoken.
  • Capacity to adapt to different cultures around the world.
  • Strong project management skills, including an ability to multitask, prioritize and respond quickly within a rapidly changing environment.
  • An uncanny ability to take convoluted legalese and translate it into plain English.

At Kantar, we have an integrated way of rewarding our people based around a simple, clear and consistent set of principles. Our approach helps to ensure we are market competitive and to support a pay for performance culture, where your reward and career progression opportunities are linked to what you deliver.

We want to create an equality of opportunity in a fair and supportive working environment where people feel included, accepted, and are allowed to flourish in a space where their mental health and wellbeing is taken into consideration. We want to create a more diverse community to expand our talent pool, be locally representative, drive diversity of thinking and better commercial outcomes.

At Kantar, the diversity of our employees provides a richer environment for our employees and broader depth and breadth of thinking for our clients. Kantar is committed to inclusion and diversity; therefore, we welcome applications from all sections of society and do not discriminate based on age, race, religion, gender, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, marital status, or any other legally protected characteristics.
