Job description

Company:

A leading provider of construction, engineering and building solutions, our multinational client has a strong focus on innovation, sustainability and improving productivity. The company has a superb reputation in the market, and its products and services are highly regarded for quality, longevity and after-sales support.

Role - Legal Counsel - Construction / Projects:

Due to an internal promotion, our client seeks to recruit a construction, projects or commercial solicitor to join its dedicated in-house legal department in Manchester.

Working on legal and commercial matters across the UK, Ireland and Nordics, as Legal Counsel you will participate in the delivery of products and services related to major construction projects in the region. These could include data centres, civil construction, nuclear and renewable energy projects, working for/with global businesses, and notable construction companies.

As the dedicated legal business partner / Legal Counsel focused on large scale projects, you will support the business development and sales teams from initial bid stage through to contract negotiation and completion. You will offer legal representation in commercial discussions with customers and project owners, influencing and guiding internal stakeholders and clients, and you will help to identify and mitigate legal risk whilst remaining focused on the key commercials to enable a deal to be done.

About you:

Applicants should be a UK qualified solicitor with experience gained at a large national or international law firm, and/or within the legal department of a multinational company.

Experience of non-contentious commercial, projects, engineering or construction law is preferred; our client is regularly involved in customer driven matters with flow down of NEC, FIDIC and JCT construction contracts.

It is envisaged that applicants will have at least five years' PQE however those with more experience are encouraged to apply.

Existing in-house experience is not a prerequisite however those with experience working with/for Engineering, Procurement or Construction (EPC) companies are appealing.

What's on offer?

Our client places a strong emphasis on its culture, which has been described as open, transparent and supportive. Reflecting this positive company culture, our client offers genuine career advancement - this role has come about due to promotion - and a comprehensive benefits package to include: car allowance, company bonus, pension, private health insurance, life assurance, flexible working, and various discounts, rewards and employee resources.
