Job Description

Versant requires a junior lawyer to work across media law and commercial matters, mainly supporting CNBC International’s Advertising and Partnerships sales teams and Channel Distribution team. The role reports to the VP, Legal and Business Affairs, Ad Sales, based in London.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal support to CNBC International’s Advertising and Partnerships and Channel Distribution sales teams, focusing on the EMEA region
  • Draft, review, and negotiate broadcast, cable, and streaming channel distribution agreements
  • Draft and negotiate advertising sales agreements, including insertion orders, sponsorship, and data agreements
  • Negotiate agreements with vendors, production companies, agencies, and consultants
  • Advise on risks related to digital and marketing activities and data collection/use
  • Review advertising and marketing content for compliance and IP concerns
  • Support development and exploitation of sponsored content, ensuring compliance with CNBC’s editorial guidelines
  • Advise on intellectual property licensing and use
  • Assist internal clients with compliance, contractual rights, dispute resolution
  • Develop legal and contractual best practices in a dynamic media landscape
  • Act as a business partner, providing practical legal counsel
  • Collaborate with the global Versant Legal team

Skills and Experience

  • Strong commercial drafting skills and knowledge of UK copyright law
  • Experience in contract negotiation and drafting
  • Familiarity with broadcast and digital advertising regulations, media agencies, and new media platforms
  • Ability to provide practical legal advice across functions
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic AI tools
  • Strong work ethic and team spirit
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Organized, able to multitask, and work independently or in teams
