Role: Legal Counsel

Location: London, England, United Kingdom (3 Days a week from our london offices)

About the role:

We are looking for a junior commercial lawyer to join its in-house legal team. The role covers a wide variety of commercial matters, including advertising and media, IT, IP, outsourcing, software/artificial intelligence, internet and digital media, data protection and security issues. The business is a global business and therefore familiarity with dealing with issues from more than one jurisdiction is an asset.

The successful candidate must provide practical, commercial, solution-driven advice and would need to have a strong commercial background with broad-ranging experience and excellent drafting skills. The candidate should be enthusiastic and proactive and be able to work with minimal supervision. The candidate should be comfortable supporting senior executives and working on projects with cross-functional business teams.

What you will be doing:
  • Drafting, advising on and negotiating a wide variety of contracts , such as advertising and creative services, software licences, software-as-a-service, artificial intelligence platform licences, talent and influencer agreements, supply/purchase contracts, digital application development services agreements and non-disclosure agreements.
  • Intellectual property work , including advising on the protection and licensing of intellectual property rights and drafting intellectual property assignment, licensing and indemnity provisions.
  • Compliance work , including monitoring changes in legislation and the regulatory environment affecting the Group and taking action accordingly, ensuring all statutory obligations are met and maintained to a high standard of corporate governance, and assisting the Legal Director and Compliance Team in developing and overseeing the Group compliance framework, including compliance with all applicable codes, in addition to legal and statutory obligations;
  • Project work , including managing ad-hoc and annual projects such as new product development for proprietary software and AI tools.
  • In addition to your technical skills , you will be well versed in building strong internal relationships with key departments and stakeholders in the business . Prior experience in the advertising and marketing sector would be an advantage.
  • You will be open and willing to attend sustainability training relevant to your role and soak up recommended research and reading about sustainability issues
What you need to be great in this role:

The successful candidate must:

  • be legally qualified as a solicitor or equivalent;
  • have solid corporate/commercial law experience (at least 2 PQE);
  • experience in house or in a commercial team in a law firm, particularly with exposure to the marketing and advertising sector, would be an advantage;
  • have excellent legal drafting, negotiation and communication skills;
  • demonstrate a strong analytical mind, an aptitude for problem solving and excellent drafting skills;
  • be proactive at developing internal business relationships;
  • be a confident team player with an encompassing attitude to the entire Inside Ideas Group team globally;
  • exercise commercial and pragmatic judgment in the advice given and solutions provided;
  • be motivated, enthusiastic and have a “can do” attitude; and
  • demonstrate excellent attention to detail.
