Legal Counsel Position at Masdar UK

Support in providing legal and regulatory advice to Masdar UK, facilitating informed decision-making while managing key legal and regulatory risks. Assist in executing processes, drafting memoranda, contracts, and other documentation to ensure compliance and facilitate commercial transactions under the supervision of a senior lawyer. Review and negotiate legal documents and assess legal and regulatory risks in business operations with guidance from senior team members.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide transactional support in deal execution, including drafting, reviewing documents, and leading negotiations.
• Support legal and regulatory advice to facilitate decision-making and risk management.
• Address legal queries related to documentation, templates, and operational legal issues.
• Offer legal advice on English law, employment law, company law, and laws relevant to the energy sector.

Contract Drafting and Review

• Review and negotiate legal documents and contracts in English, assessing legal and regulatory risks.
• Identify and mitigate legal and commercial risks of transactions.
• Draft and review corporate documents related to Masdar-owned entities.

Litigation and Business Support

• Assist in litigation preparations in England & Wales and other jurisdictions.
• Participate in meetings to discuss legal aspects of business operations.
• Engage with business functions to gather information, provide legal advice, and set expectations.
• Manage external legal counsel, including review of their outputs.

The jobholder will support the General Counsel, Global Offshore Wind & UK, and other legal team members as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in law from a reputable university.
• Admission to practice law in England & Wales or an internationally recognized jurisdiction.

Experience and Skills

• Minimum 4 years post-qualification experience, preferably in a law firm.
• Ability to review and draft contracts in English; fluent spoken English.
• Strong legal knowledge, especially in English law and energy sector regulations.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to identify legal risks and work effectively under pressure.
