Role:

CFP Energy are seeking a proactive and driven Legal Counsel to join our in-house legal team, reporting directly to the General Counsel. In this role, you will gain broad exposure to business lines and be involved in power purchase agreements, commodity trading documents, corporate documents, derivatives, financing facilities, and litigation. You will work with a wide variety of products and documents and assist in managing our established yet growing legal team.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various agreements such as supplier contracts, commercial agreements, and contracts.
  • Support the legal team in ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, including energy regulations, data protection laws, and corporate governance requirements.
  • Assisting with comprehensive legal advice across the portfolio on a variety of commercial issues.
  • Assist with monitoring and providing proactive advice to the business regarding changes in relevant legislation and regulatory environments.
  • Manage corporate governance matters, including maintaining corporate records and ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
  • Support our Senior Legal Counsel with advising the business on potential legal risks and providing mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with external counsel when necessary.
  • Be a trusted source of knowledge to the business.

Ideal candidate:

  • Qualified solicitor (NQ - 1 Year PQE).
  • Experience in project finance, including structuring and negotiating complex financing agreements (highly desirable).
  • Experience of working in energy and/or commodities (preferred).
  • Familiarity with ISDA documents or similar (preferred).
  • Good legal foundation and technical expertise.
  • Thorough and diligent – good attention to detail.
  • Adaptable, pragmatic, with a commercial mindset.
  • Possess gravitas with the ability to influence and negotiate with internal and external teams.
  • Flexible with a proactive attitude towards work, and strong academics.
