Job summary

DVF Recruitment is partnering with a leading insurer to recruit a Legal Counsel for its UK legal team. The role spans broad insurance, regulatory and commercial matters across jurisdictions, advising senior leaders and balancing risk with business objectives.

The successful candidate will handle governance, product development support, and complex contracts, while coordinating with external counsel as needed. Up to £120,000 salary plus bonus and benefits.

Qualifications

• Qualified lawyer with approximately 5-6+ years' PQ.
• Strong insurance and/or reinsurance legal experience gained in private practice or in-house.
• Good knowledge of UK insurance regulation and the Lloyd's market.
• Strong drafting and negotiation skill.
• Commercially minded with the ability to balance legal risk and business objective.
• Comfortable building relationships and influencing stakeholders at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Advising on insurance and reinsurance matters across property, casualty and specialty line.
• Drafting, reviewing and negotiating Lloyd's and Company Market policy wordings, delegated authority agreements and distribution arrangement.
• Supporting underwriting and product teams on governance, regulatory requirements and product development.
• Providing legal advice on coverage issues, disputes, sanctions and regulatory matters.
• Advising on commercial contracts and broader corporate legal issues.
• Supporting strategic business initiatives, projects and transactions.
• Developing legal guidance, training and best-practice documentation.
• Managing legal risk and coordinating with external counsel where required.
