Job Opportunity: Legal Counsel – European Team

Our client, a dynamic organisation in the insurance sector, is seeking a skilled Legal Counsel to join their newly created European legal team. This role reports to the European General Counsel and involves close collaboration with management and legal teams across over 20 countries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise on, negotiate, and draft various contracts, including terms of business and supplier agreements.
  • Support the establishment of new entities and branches while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Manage and advise on contentious matters, including employment and supplier disputes.
  • Serve as a contact point for regulatory inquiries related to insurance intermediaries.
  • Collaborate with compliance teams to implement new laws and regulations.
  • Harmonise legal standards across regional teams and optimise legal operations.
  • Oversee external counsel to ensure cost-effective legal advice.

Qualifications:

  • Qualified solicitor or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience in insurance law (in-house or private practice).
  • Strong understanding of the European regulatory framework for insurance intermediaries.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Proactive, reliable, and able to manage responsibilities independently.
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in another European language is a plus.
