Legal Cashier / Accounts Assistant
Hours: Full-time, Monday–Friday, 9am–5.30pm

TSR Legal is proud to be working with a leading law firm in central Cardiff in their search for a Legal Cashier / Accounts Assistant to join their busy finance team.

The Role

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the Finance Manager in the day-to-day financial operations of the firm. This is a varied role involving accounts processing, reconciliations, and client billing, with responsibilities across daily, weekly, monthly, and annual financial functions.

Key Responsibilities

Daily tasks include:

  • Preparing and processing client invoices
  • Monitoring bank accounts and allocating funds
  • Processing CHAPS/BACS payments
  • Posting supplier invoices and disbursements onto ALB
  • Managing office and client bank accounts
  • Banking cheques and preparing financial reports
  • Liaising with suppliers and monitoring client balances

Weekly tasks:

  • Processing expense claims
  • Reconciling petty cash
  • Chasing aged debt and uncashed cheques
  • Liaising with fee earners on billing matters

Monthly and annual tasks:

  • Supporting month-end close and reconciliations
  • Maintaining financial registers
  • Assisting with year-end audit and reporting processes

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Experience in a professional office finance role – Solicitors Accounts Rules experience
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Knowledge of practice management software
  • Sales/purchase ledger and bank reconciliation experience
  • Credit control experience
  • High attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Strong initiative and team player mentality

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with Solicitors Accounts Rules
  • Experience using ALB software
