Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate client and office ledgers.
  • Process all financial transactions including receipts and payments.
  • Ensure compliance with SRA Accounts Rules and anti-money laundering regulations.
  • Perform daily bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns and assist with audits.

Accountable Recruitment are delighted to be partnering with a growing, Chester based, legal firm as they look to recruit an experienced Legal Cashier to join their growing finance team.

Based in Chester, you will work a hybrid model.

This opportunity is ideal for an experienced Legal Cashier or an experienced Accountant with previous experience working within the legal industry.

Job Duties:

  • Maintain accurate client and office ledgers.
  • Process all financial transactions including receipts, payments, transfers, and disbursements.
  • Ensure compliance with SRA Accounts Rules and anti-money laundering regulations.
  • Perform daily bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow.
  • Manage CHAPS, BACS, and international payments.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns and assist with audits.
  • Produce daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports.
  • Assist with year-end accounts and liaise with external auditors.
  • Raise and process invoices and ensure timely payments.
  • Liaise with solicitors, clients, banks, and regulatory bodies.
  • Support payroll and petty cash functions where required.
  • Maintain confidentiality and data protection standards.
  • Complete file closures in accordance with current procedures.

Ideal experience

  • Experience in legal finance or bookkeeping.
  • Knowledge of SRA Accounts Rules and legal accounting procedures.
  • Strong Excel and IT skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Understanding of double-entry bookkeeping.
  • Organised and able to manage multiple tasks.
