Legal Associate - Police Federation Team
Up to £90,000 + Excellent Benefits

A leading national legal firm is seeking an experienced and ambitious Associate to join its specialist Police Federation Team. With a client base rooted in public service, this is an exciting opportunity for a confident and committed legal professional to play a key role in representing police officers in sensitive and complex matters.
What You'll Be Doing:
In this role, you will:
" Provide legal representation to police officers during interviews and misconduct investigations involving criminal and disciplinary allegations.
" Advise and represent clients in inquests, particularly those relating to deaths following police contact.
" Analyse evidence, attend client interviews with investigatory bodies, advise on outcomes, brief counsel, and prepare legal documentation including witness statements.
" Manage your own caseload and billing in line with agreed financial targets.
" Work to client service standards and internal performance targets.
" Act as a key point of contact for clients, offering expert legal advice with professionalism and discretion.
" Build strong internal and external networks, identifying cross-practice opportunities.
" Stay up to date with regulatory changes and ensure full compliance with legal and confidentiality protocols.
Who You Are:
" A qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive with police station accreditation and strong experience in criminal litigation.
" Skilled in representing clients in disciplinary proceedings and familiar with procedures involving police conduct oversight bodies.
" Able and willing to work out-of-hours when needed, including attending police stations or advising on urgent matters. A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel is essential.
" Highly communicative with strong client-handling skills and the ability to deal with sensitive issues with empathy and clarity.
" Commercially aware with a proven ability to manage cases profitably and meet financial targets.
" Detail-oriented, organised, and able to work to high quality and productivity standards.
" A team player with a collaborative approach to working across different offices and levels of seniority.
" Technologically competent, with proficiency in MS Word and case management systems.
