Job summary

A leading offshore wind energy company is seeking a Legal Advisor to handle drafting and negotiation of contracts, manage legal issues and collaborate with cross-department teams. The ideal candidate will have a law degree, up to 4 years of PQE, and experience with commercial contracts. Strong analytical and negotiation skills required, along with fluency in English and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Qualifications

  • Degree in law required, must be Scots or English law qualified.
  • Up to 4 years PQE.
  • Experience in commercial contracts necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Drafting and negotiating commercial documentation including FIDIC and LOGIC contracts.

Ocean Winds (OW) is an international company dedicated to offshore wind energy and created as a 50-50 joint venture, owned by EDP Renewables and ENGIE. OW develops, finances, builds and operates offshore wind farm projects all around the world.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial documentation including FIDIC and LOGIC contracts, BIMCOs, supply agreements and confidentiality agreements.
  • Analysis of complex and legal commercial issues arising from contract negotiations and existing contractual relationships.
  • Managing and negotiating contractor claims.
  • Instructing and managing external counsel.
  • Advising on regulatory matters.
  • Assisting with general legal enquiries from the business.

REQUIRED ACADEMIC SKILLS

Degree in law required. Must be Scots or English law qualified with up to 4 years PQE.

REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Experience in commercial contracts is necessary.

RESOURCES MANAGEMENT

This role will not have any direct reports

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills;
  • General MS Office knowledge;
  • Have contracts experience;
  • Have strong drafting, negotiation and organisational skills;
  • Be fluent in written and spoken English;
  • Be comfortable working on their own with an ability to make pragmatic decisions; and
  • Be a team player as although the candidate will be expected to be able to work on their own they will also need to work as part of a cross departmental/international team.
