Job Description:

HCB Widdows Mason is looking for a motivated and organised Legal Assistant to join our Residential Property team. This role offers an exciting opportunity for individuals aiming to support clients through the residential property transaction process while gaining valuable experience in the legal field. Full training will be provided for the right candidate.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting clients with inquiries related to residential property transactions.
  • Providing updates to clients and monitoring the progression of their matters.
  • Opening and closing files in compliance with the firm’s AML and regulatory standards.
  • Performing general administrative tasks to support the team.
  • Preparing and submitting quotes to clients and drafting completion statements.
  • Reviewing mortgage offers and preparing relevant reports under supervision.
  • Conducting online searches and due diligence.
  • Using the Land Registry portal for submissions and managing requisitions.
  • Calculating Stamp Duty Land Tax and submitting applications.
  • Assisting with billing and finance-related tasks for fee earners.
  • Providing occasional reception cover as necessary.

Requirements

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively under pressure.
  • Excellent attention to detail in all documentation.
  • Previous experience in a legal setting is preferred but not essential.
