Job description

Legal Assistant/Paralegal (Disrepair) needed in Lewisham, £26.10ph PAYE - Reference: RQ1535292

This is a maternity cover for the paralegal in the housing and disrepair team, with an expected duration of 6-12 months. The role offers a hybrid working arrangement: 2 days in the office and 3 days remote per week.

Ideal candidates will have some knowledge of housing, disrepair, and EPA prosecutions.

The responsibilities include:

  1. Managing a caseload of approximately 40 mixed disrepair and housing cases under supervision, including drafting defences, witness statements, application notices, settling claims, and handling costs issues.
  2. Attending legal, income, and housing management meetings.
  3. Maintaining an accurate log of all existing and new housing and disrepair cases.
  4. Arranging payment of external invoices.
  5. Entering hearing dates into the Legal Housing Calendar.
  6. Monitoring the Legal Housing inbox in collaboration with the Legal Assistant, handling inquiries related to cases, assisting external solicitors, and escalating issues when necessary.

This is a full-time, temporary role.
