A reputable legal firm in Sidmouth is seeking a motivated Legal Assistant for its Private Client Department. The successful candidate will support fee earners with document preparation, client communication, and administrative tasks. Ideal candidates should demonstrate strong communication skills, organisational ability, and excellent IT proficiency. A driving licence is preferred. Job description

Our client is seeking a bright, organised, and motivated Legal Assistant to join its highly regarded Private Client Department in Sidmouth. For the role you must live commutable distance from the offices.

The Role

The successful candidates will provide dedicated support to fee earners, playing a key role in ensuring the smooth administration of client matters. Responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing documents and correspondence via dictation and case management software.
  • Liaising with clients and third parties by phone, in writing, and face-to-face.
  • Assisting with diary and appointment management.
  • Handling administrative duties including file opening/closing, scanning, and post management.
  • Safekeeping of original documents.
  • Drafting Wills, Powers of Attorney, Probate forms, and related documents.
  • Recording time accurately.
  • Attending home or property visits (driving licence desirable).
Candidate Profile

You should be able to demonstrate:

  • A strong academic background with fast and accurate typing skills.
  • Excellent IT skills, including use of case management systems.
  • Previous experience within a Private Client department (preferred but not essential).
  • Strong organisational ability and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to prioritise and meet deadlines under supervision.
  • A professional, flexible, and team-oriented approach.

A full driving licence and access to a vehicle are preferred, as occasional travel between offices and to client premises may be required.
