We are looking for a highly motivated Legal Assistant to join us and provide high-quality support to a team of adult social care lawyers.
You will support a range of legal matters including safeguarding adults, Court of Protection proceedings, Ordinary Residence, Mental Health, Finance/Funding, NRPF/immigration, Care Act Advice, Forced Marriage, Policy Advice, and Inquest work.
Responsibilities include preparing and maintaining court bundles, filing and serving documents, booking counsel, requesting evidence, timetabling, drafting, minute-taking, sitting behind counsel at hearings, and preparing notes.
We are a close-knit team committed to high-quality advice and collaboration across services to promote best practices and outcomes. Personal development is encouraged through opportunities to increase knowledge and experience, along with mentoring and peer support.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrable knowledge and experience in legal assistant duties. You should be highly organized, able to work to deadlines, enjoy teamwork, and possess excellent communication skills. The ability to work under pressure and adapt quickly to changing priorities is essential. You should be confident to work independently but know when to seek support.
Previous experience in local authority and adult social care is advantageous, but applications from candidates with private practice or other legal experience are encouraged, especially if they possess transferable skills.
