Job description

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Legal and Commercial Counsel to play a pivotal role in the property industry. The position involves providing expert legal advice and support, ensuring compliance, and managing commercial contracts effectively.

Client Details

This role is with a engineering / construction industry membership body which is over 100 years old.

Description

The role holder will:

  • Advise members on a wide range of legal, commercial, corporate and contractual matters relating to construction and engineering projects (as well as some disputes advisory work)
  • Generalist in-house work relating to the running of the organisation (commercial contracting, procurements, HR/Employment, governance and policy).
  • Government lobbying - representing the interests of the members during consultation with various government departments which preside over and manage UK Regulations relating to the construction and engineering industry.

Profile

The successful candidate will be a lawyer, qualified in England & Wales (or another Common Law jurisdiction).

They will ideally have:

  • demonstrable experience in advising on standard and non-standard construction contracts (on a contentious and/or non-contentious basis).
  • an understanding of commercial contracts and IP
  • an awareness and practical ability to manage corporate group issues
  • exposure to employment law issues

A Candidate who is particularly strong in one or more of these areas could be considered for the role.
