About the Role:

We are seeking a committed, experienced, and motivated Supervising Senior Caseworker to join our specialist Immigration and newly formed Legal Aid team. This senior-level position plays a pivotal role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality legal services across our immigration practice. You will report directly to the Department Director and be responsible for managing your own complex immigration caseload while supervising, developing, and supporting a team of lawyers and caseworkers.

This role combines technical legal expertise, mentoring, and operational oversight. You will lead by example in providing Legal Aid and private immigration services, fostering a culture of continuous learning, compliance, and compassion aligned with our values.

About Us:

At BPA Immigration Lawyers, we are committed to ensuring access to justice for vulnerable individuals navigating the UK immigration system. As a growing firm with a strong ethical foundation, we have launched a dedicated Legal Aid department focused on delivering expert, compassionate advice and representation.

Joining as a Senior Caseworker with IAAS Supervisor status means more than casework — you'll help shape the culture, standards, and direction of our Legal Aid services. You’ll supervise, manage legal risk, and contribute to positive outcomes for clients, supported by a collaborative team.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical leadership and manage caseworkers, trainees, and solicitors.
  • Handle a portfolio of Legal Aid and private immigration cases, including asylum, human rights, detention, trafficking victims, entry clearance appeals, judicial reviews, and tribunal cases.
  • Oversee case allocation and capacity planning.
  • Manage Legal Aid funding applications and documentation.
  • Draft legal documents such as witness statements and representations.
  • Attend conferences, hearings, and court proceedings as needed.
  • Deliver internal training, supervise standards, and ensure legal quality.
  • Support business development and marketing initiatives.
Key Skills Required:
  • Practicing Certificate (valid) and IAAS Level 2 Senior Caseworker accreditation (at application time).
  • Supervisory experience and ability to manage team performance and KPIs.
  • Strong knowledge of immigration, asylum, detention, and public law.
  • Experience with Legal Aid funding, billing, and compliance.
  • Excellent client care skills, especially with vulnerable clients.
  • Leadership style that is collaborative and proactive, with mentoring focus.
  • Advocacy experience is advantageous.
  • Proficiency with IT and case management systems.
  • Experience in immigration tribunal advocacy.
  • Experience in private client immigration or adoption matters.
  • Knowledge of internal audits, capacity reporting, and team performance monitoring.
