Whether it's unforgettable reality TV, gripping drama, or world-class formats, we help to bring entertainment to life on a global scale.

The role..

Our dedicated Brand Protection team is compact but with a big reach. We have an exciting opportunity to recruit an experienced and Qualified Trade Marks Legal Advisor on a Permanent basis. You'll report to the Senior Legal Advisor, with a dotted line to the Head of Brand Protection, and collaborate/supervise junior members of the Brand Protection team. In this role, you'll handle ITV Group's extensive global trade mark portfolio. You'll be at the centre of ITV's brand IP strategy, helping safeguard our brands in the UK and internationally, while enabling their commercialisation around the world.

You'll handle a wide range of exciting and high-impact responsibilities, including:

  • Running UK and international trade mark filings and coordinating the registration process
  • Conducting audits to assess and improve trade mark protection, including identifying and addressing portfolio gaps
  • Leading trade mark renewal processes and portfolio projects such as assignments
  • Drafting UK and EU trade mark specifications and coordinating with external legal counsel for international filings
  • Managing opposition and other contentious trade mark proceedings globally
  • Conducting clearance searches and assessing legal risk around new brand usage and registration
  • Working with external law firms on international title and brand clearance searches
  • Keeping our in-house trade mark database up to date and ensuring critical deadlines are met
  • Advising on protection and registration strategies for new programmes, formats, corporate brands, and products

Skills you'll need (minimum criteria)

  • You must be a CITMA qualified Trademark Attorney
  • The role will suit someone with 1-3 years post qualification experience working as a Trade Mark Attorney in a company or in a law firm
  • At least 1 year of experience working in the media industry or with media industry clients would be advantageous

Other things we're looking for (key criteria)

  • Sophisticated knowledge of UK and EU trade mark law
  • Knowledge of management of international trade mark portfolios and handling external legal counsel in international jurisdictions
  • Ability to work independently with senior business colleagues to provide strategic and commercially driven legal advice and recommendations
  • High degree of proficiency in using applications such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint to build and maintain detailed project documentation and well-presented executive summaries for senior management
  • Ability to review and assimilate large amounts of information and to use a high degree of attention to detail to use the information to build project documentation and strategy recommendations
  • Ability to work proactively and collaboratively with various key ITV teams, including other ITV legal and business affairs teams, sales teams, licensing teams and marketing teams
  • Ability to manage a high-volume workload which requires prioritisation of work to meet deadlines

Please note, on occasion we may receive a very large volume of applications which means applications for a role may close earlier than the referenced closing date. We'd encourage you to apply as soon as possible if interested.
