About The Role

Purpose

Reporting to a General Counsel, the primary purpose of this role is to contribute to the effective operation of the Group Legal function in line with business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide general administrative support to the General Counsel, including company secretarial matters, coordinating meetings within the business, and liaising with external stakeholders.
  • Maintain and manage the Group contracts register and repository.
  • Manage contract data-related databases and information flows.
  • Review, draft, and negotiate agreements based on standard templates; assist with other agreements as required, including standard form novation agreements and termination notices.
  • Assist in reviewing, updating, and proofing Group standard terms and client-facing materials, including pre-release into a live environment.
  • Provide day-to-day support for the Legal team on internal queries and liaise with other business areas.
  • Assist in managing the Group’s intellectual property portfolio and brand protection measures.
  • Support the team in managing external counsel costs.
  • Assist with legal deliverables and management information as required.
  • Contribute to team know-how, including research, procedures, and templates.
  • Perform other duties as reasonably required by the line manager and 7IM.
  • While not directly interacting with customers, actions should align with upholding the FCA's Consumer Duty principles, contributing to fair and beneficial outcomes for clients.

  • Knowledge of contract and commercial law.
  • Experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts preferred.
  • Knowledge of intellectual property law, data protection, and financial services regulation is desirable.
Qualifications

  • Law degree, GDL, or similar; or 5+ years relevant paralegal experience.
  • Strong academic record.
