Job Description:

About the role

The post-holder will sit within UCL Engineering’s Centre for Engineering Education and will work with colleagues across the faculty to support the development and delivery of the Centre’s Engineering Foundation Year curriculum.

The Engineering Foundation Year aims to widen participation by admitting mature students, students from low-participation backgrounds, and first-generation students. It provides an entry route into most UCL Engineering undergraduate programs, supporting students academically and pastorally to reach their potential.

The Centre seeks to employ a teaching-focused lecturer with engineering and higher education teaching experience in level 4/5 mathematics and/or level 3 (A-level) teaching. The post-holder will support curriculum development, create teaching materials, and support student pastoral care, including personal tutoring.

The candidate should have expertise in curriculum development and supporting foundation-level students, with the ability to build relationships with department contacts and promote the EFY program.

About you

The successful candidate should demonstrate:

  • Postgraduate qualification (MSc/PhD) in engineering science or mathematics, or equivalent experience
  • Experience in curriculum, program, or module leadership and development
  • Experience in teaching mathematics suitable for foundation year students
  • Strong attention to detail, high accuracy standards, and excellent communication skills
  • Commitment to equal opportunity and ability to work harmoniously with diverse colleagues and students

See the full job description and person specification for details. Applications must include a supporting statement demonstrating how you meet the essential criteria, with examples. Attachments of certificates or research documents are not required at this stage.

This role qualifies for UK visa sponsorship options, including skilled worker certificates or global talent visas. UCL welcomes international applicants requiring visas.
