Job description

LOCATION: Remote; availability to work across multiple time zones; may include some unsocial hours (GMT).

RESPONSIBLE TO: Deputy Dean of the Business School.

POST OBJECTIVES:

Deliver and manage modules across undergraduate and postgraduate sport and football degree courses. Complete administrative tasks, including quality assurance documents related to student feedback, assessment moderation, and participation in Assessment Boards as required by GIS's awarding bodies. Support the Deputy Dean in overseeing staff teaching on UG and PG courses. Support academic provision at overseas partnerships linked to GIS courses.

KEY TASKS:

  1. Teach designated modules and courses, including contributing to online course delivery.
  2. Maintain academic standards and adhere to course and module specifications.
  3. Design and deliver teaching materials at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, contributing to curriculum review and enhancement to support student learning outcomes.
  4. Prepare and deliver lectures and seminars across various levels.
  5. Encourage critical discourse and rational thinking, stimulating academic excellence.
  6. Identify students' learning needs, define objectives, supervise projects, field trips, placements, and advise on study skills.
  7. Integrate innovative teaching methods, technology, and real-world applications to enhance engagement and assessment.
  8. Monitor student engagement and feedback; maintain accurate records of progress.

Undertake student assessments and examinations, providing constructive feedback.

  1. Mark, assess, and verify students' work internally.
  2. Liaise with colleagues and External Examiners to embed best practices.

Engage in continuous professional development.

  1. Develop strategies to promote and assess learning.
  2. Maintain in-depth knowledge of your specialism to foster new understanding.
  3. Participate in research and professional growth activities.

Participate in departmental seminars for knowledge sharing and interdisciplinary collaboration.

  1. Build productive relationships within the team.
  2. Develop external networks to promote GIS and foster future collaborations.
  3. Collaborate on assessment procedures development and implementation.

Provide pastoral care to students within your area.

  1. Act as a personal tutor, offering first-line support.
  2. Refer students to support services when needed.

Achieve KPIs related to attendance, retention, and achievement.

Work with support staff to maintain high student satisfaction levels.

Contribute to annual reviews and reports, responding to feedback and outcomes.

Undertake staff development and training aligned with GIS objectives, including attending briefings.
