Job description

LOCATION: Remote: Availability to work across multiple time zones; may include some unsocial hours (GMT)

POST OBJECTIVES:

Deliver and manage modules across both undergraduate and postgraduate Football Business degree courses. Complete relevant administrative tasks, including quality assurance documents related to student feedback, moderation of assessments, and participation in Assessment Boards as required by GIS' awarding bodies. Assist the Deputy Dean of the School in supporting staff teaching on UG and PG courses. Support the academic provision at overseas partnerships linked to GIS courses.

KEY TASKS:

  1. Teach on designated modules and courses as defined by the Dean of School, including contributing to the academic delivery of online courses.
  2. Maintain academic standards and adhere to course and module specifications.
  3. Design and deliver teaching materials at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, contributing to curriculum review and enhancement to support student learning outcomes.
  4. Prepare and deliver lecture and seminar materials across various levels of study.
  5. Challenge thinking and foster debate to develop students' ability to engage in critical discourse and rational thinking, stimulating excellence.
  6. Identify students' learning needs, define learning objectives, supervise student projects, field trips, placements, and advise on study skills.
  7. Integrate innovative teaching methods, technology, and real-world applications into the curriculum to maintain engagement and assess understanding.
  8. Track student engagement and provide feedback to the Course Leader. Maintain accurate records of student progress.
  9. Undertake student assessments and examinations, providing appropriate feedback.
  10. Mark, assess, and verify students' work internally.
  11. Liaise with colleagues and External Examiners to embed best practices in academic delivery.
  12. Engage in continuous professional development.
  13. Develop strategies to promote and assess learning.
  14. Maintain an in-depth understanding of your specialism to develop new knowledge within the field.
  15. Participate in research and professional development activities.
  16. Contribute to department seminars for knowledge sharing and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  17. Act as a responsible team member and develop productive relationships with staff.
  18. Develop external networks to promote GIS and foster future collaborations.
  19. Collaborate on assessment procedures development and implementation.
  20. Be responsible for the pastoral care of students within a designated area.
  21. Act as a personal tutor, providing first-line support and referring students to additional services as needed.
  22. Achieve key performance indicators related to attendance, retention, and achievement.
  23. Work with support staff to maintain high student satisfaction levels.
  24. Contribute to annual review and evaluation reports, implementing module action plans based on student feedback.
  25. Undertake staff development and training aligned with GIS objectives, including attending academic briefings.
  26. Work within Health and Safety and Equal Opportunities policies.
  27. Perform any other duties relevant to the post, demonstrating flexibility and responsibility.
