Job Description

We are seeking a knowledgeable Lecturer in Music Business, to join our innovative and industry-connected programme. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced educator, or a music industry professional looking to diversify or transition their career into higher education. We are looking for a committed and inspiring individual who is passionate about helping students realise their creative and professional goals. (This is a part-time 0.8 FTE role)

About the Role

You will be teaching on the BA (Hons) and MA Commercial Music, courses that equip students with the creative and entrepreneurial skills needed to thrive in the fast-evolving music and wider creative industries. Our graduates include Emmy Award winners, senior industry executives, major recording artists, published songwriters, producers, engineers, and session musicians. In this role, you will contribute to the delivery of modules in areas such as: Music business and entrepreneurship, Marketing and promotion and Industry-focused creative projects. You will also help to maintain and grow the course’s strong network of industry contacts and external partnerships.

We are looking for someone who is genuinely passionate about supporting students in realising their creative and professional ambitions. You will bring substantial experience in the music industry, which may include/span areas such as artist management, record labels, publishing, live events, or marketing and promotion. You will have up to date knowledge including the rapidly evolving landscape of copyright in a digital/A.I landscape. A degree in a relevant subject and a postgraduate qualification (or working towards one) is desirable, however, significant industry experience will also be considered.

About You

  • Substantial and current experience in the music industry, such as artist management, record labels, publishing, live events, or music marketing and promotion.
  • Ability to teach and design modules in music business, marketing/promotion, and entrepreneurial projects at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of copyright and intellectual property issues, including developments related to digital platforms and AI
  • Experience of teaching in higher education or delivering professional training within the creative industries.
  • A postgraduate qualification (or currently working towards one) in a relevant subject area.
  • Established industry contacts and networks that could enhance student opportunities and course development.
