This is an exciting opportunity for an appropriately experienced individual to become part of the subject team for the PGCE Science courses, with expertise in physics education.
The successful candidate will engage in teaching and supervision of PGCE science students and will be responsible for coordinating and leading the PGCE Physics component of the course (including Physics with Mathematics PGCE). There may also be involvement in undergraduate physics education and contributions to the MA Education (Science). The role includes engaging in scholarship and research in science education.
This is a part-time position (.80 FTE, hours per week), with salary pro-rata to FTE. Employment is contingent upon a successful DBS check.

The ideal candidate will have a good first degree or equivalent in a relevant physics education field, hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, and possess a master’s (or higher) degree in education or a related field (completed or nearing completion).
You should have experience working effectively with student teachers and school colleagues to support professional development, with a sound understanding of Initial Teacher Education (ITE). Proven successful physics teaching in schools and a strong knowledge of the UK school science curriculum are essential.
The role also involves supporting student teachers pastorally, providing guidance throughout their training. A good knowledge of physics/science education literature and a commitment to advancing the field through research and scholarly outputs are required.
