Lecturer of Law - Bloomsbury

Job description

We are looking to recruit Lecturers or Senior Lecturers to join us on our exciting journey in our conveniently located London Bloomsbury Campus - ideally qualified solicitors, barristers or experienced paralegals who can demonstrate successful legal practice experience, or experienced law tutors/academics who currently teach across the range of programmes we offer.

Salary: Lecturer: £40,000 - £42,000 (max pay grade £44,500) plus London weighting of £7,950.

Senior Lecturer: £48,000 - £53,000 (max pay grade £58,000)plus London weighting of £7,950.

These are full time permanent positions, we will also consider part time opportunities with a minimum commitment of 3 days per week. Specialisms of interest are employment law, commercial law and corporate law. However, we are also open to applications from other areas of law.

As a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer at The University of Law, you will:

  • Teach and assess across the University of Law course portfolio in such subjects assigned to you. This will include teaching and assessing students across a range of written and oral skills and giving individual feedback on students’ performances.
  • Assist in the preparation of assignments and assessments.
  • Participate in course design and review.
  • Act as an academic coach to students, including being available and willing to discuss students’ problems as they arise, their performance and academic progression
  • Assist in marketing, widening participation and extra-curricular events.
  • Supervise student dissertations and research projects.
  • We are looking for individuals who are/have:

  • Degree (any subject) or equivalent (For Senior Lecturers – Fellowship of the HEA)
  • Qualified solicitor or qualified barrister or Paralegal or relevant academic/pedagogical/A Level teaching background
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education (PgCHE)*
  • Flexibility to teach across a range of different subjects
  • Excellent oral clarity, excellent written and presentation skills
  • Punctual, professional and committed to teaching
  • Teaching in a Higher Education setting or an educational establishment (desirable).
  • Please note: For Senior Lecturers: You will havedeveloped significant expertise in: application and practical delivery of a range of teaching techniques, pastoral care, mentoring colleagues, assessments and marking, team leadership.

    *Please note that if you do not currently have/are not undertaking a PgCHE or an equivalent qualification, it is a requirement that you will enrol into the programme (delivered and financially supported by the University), within 18 months of passing probation.
