Job summary

Bradford College in Bradford is seeking a Motor Vehicle Lecturer to design and deliver engaging content, helping students develop technical skills and safe working practices.

You will teach courses, lead curriculum development, supervise placements, and contribute to course design in line with college policies, with a fixed-term contract to September 2027.

The role requires GCSE 4-9 English/Maths and a Level 3 Motor Vehicle, plus a teaching qualification or willingness to work towards it.

Qualifications

• GCSE 4-9 (A*-C) or Level 2 Maths/English or equivalent, or prepared to pass a test before the interview and achieve within timescale
• Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Motor Vehicle or related subject
• A teaching qualification or willingness to work towards this qualification

Responsibilities

• Teach courses specified by the Departmental Leadership Team.
• Participate in curriculum development and cross-college marketing activities where appropriate.
• Participate in enrolment, induction, monitoring, profiling and initial assessment of students or trainees.
• Devise individual learning plans and support learners as required.
• Be responsible to Head of Department for student discipline, counselling and guidance.
• Supervise students on placements and offsite visits as appropriate.
• Maintain records of assessments reporting progress of individuals and groups.
• Contribute to the department's success and vision.
• Undertake programme leadership duties as specified by line manager or Head of Department.
• Contribute to course development and stay up-to-date with education reforms.
• Contribute to development of new programmes of study with inclusive delivery.
• Act as academic and pastoral tutor for assigned students.
• Implement and promote college regulations, policies and procedures.
• Participate in Course Committee activities and ensure student voice informs curriculum design.
• Take part in recruitment and marketing activities as required by line manager or Head of Department

As a Motor Vehicle Lecturer, you will design and deliver engaging and inspiring content to support students' development of technical skills and ensuring they continually build safe working practices. Please note that this is a Fixed Term position up until September 2027.

Please note that as part of the government-targeted retention payment scheme, you may be eligible for a payment of up to £6000, dependent on the subject/courses you teach.

Responsibilities Include

• Teach courses specified by the Departmental Leadership Team.
• Participate actively in curriculum development; and where appropriate in cross-college marketing activities.

• To contribute to the development of new programmes of study demonstrating an inclusive and collaborative approach to delivery
• To act as academic and pastoral tutor to assigned students.

• To participate in relevant Course Committee activities and ensure that the student voice informs curriculum design.

Education & Training

• GCSE 4-9 (A*- C) or nationally recognised level 2 qualification in Maths and English or equivalent, or prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale
• Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Motor Vehicle or related subject.
• A relevant teaching qualification or willingness to work towards this qualification.

Experience

• Academic or industrial or commercial experience in an area relevant to the programme - Motor Vehicle
• Experience in Good teaching/training.
• Experience of student pastoral care and disciplinary procedures
