Job summary

Bradford College's Engineering and Motor Vehicle Department is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Lecturer to deliver an outstanding student learning experience, preparing learners for the modern world of work. Join a supportive team as part of Bradford College’s mission to Transform Lives.

Qualifications

  • Hold a Level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
  • A teaching qualification or willingness to work towards this qualification.
  • GCSE 4–9 in Maths or equivalent Level 2 qualification.
  • GCSE 4–9 in English or equivalent Level 2 qualification.

Responsibilities

  • Teach on courses specified by the management team.
  • Assist in delivering high learning value, financially efficient programmes and lead on innovation in learning delivery.
  • Be responsible for students’ academic progress, wellbeing, behaviour management and careers and pastoral guidance.
  • Respond to the student voice – seeing students as primary stakeholders in their learning.
  • Help students develop modern, safe working practices and employability skills.
  • Participate in enrolment, monitoring, profiling and assessment of students.
  • Develop and promote links with employer/industry partners.
  • Create enriching programmes of learning exposing students to real-life work experiences – on and off campus.

Job description

Our thriving Engineering and Motor Vehicle Department are seeking a Mechanical Engineering Lecturer to deliver an outstanding student learning experience, as you prepare young adults and experienced trade professionals to contribute to the modern world of work.

We welcome applications from experienced teaching staff as well as industry professionals looking to share their knowledge with the next generation of Mechanical Engineers.

Responsibilities include:
  • To teach on courses specified by the management team
  • To assist the management team in delivering high learning value, financially efficient programmes (including physical resource management) and to lead on innovation and efficiency in the delivery of learning
  • To be responsible for student’s academic progress, wellbeing, behaviour management and careers and pastoral guidance throughout their learning journey
  • To seek out and respond to the student voice – seeing students as primary stakeholders in their learning
  • To help students develop modern, safe working practices and behaviours – in both technical (vocational skills) and employability skills.
  • To participate actively in the enrolment, monitoring, profiling and assessment of students
  • To proactively develop and promote close links with employer/industry partners
  • To create enriching, effective and inspirational programmes of learning that expose our students to real-life work experiences – including on and off campus

Education & Training
  • Hold a Level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering
  • A relevant teaching qualification or willingness to work towards this qualification.
  • GCSE 4 – 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in Maths or be prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale
  • GCSE 4 - 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in English or be prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale
Experience
  • Academic or industrial or commercial experience in an area relevant to the programme.
  • Experience in Good teaching/training.
  • Experience of student pastoral care and disciplinary procedures
  • Experience of course leadership responsibilities.
