Lecturer in Marine Engineering - Southampton Solent University’s Warsash Maritime School

Southampton Solent University’s Warsash Maritime School is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Marine Engineering to contribute to our specialist Marine Engineering and Electro-Technical Officer seafarer programmes. The focus will be on delivering Management level UK MCA Engineering Knowledge preparation courses and other Marine Engineering courses. The successful candidate will also participate in the school's research and commercial activities, enhancing the student experience.

The school has a global reputation for practice-led maritime education, preparing future industry leaders. The Marine Engineering team is renowned for cadet and officer education supporting careers at sea and ashore.

Qualifications include a management level certificate of competence from a UK-recognised country and an undergraduate and/or postgraduate degree in a relevant field such as Shipping, Marine Engineering, or Maritime Business. Flexibility to teach across a wide range of topics is essential.

Starting salary depends on qualifications and experience within the stated salary band. An additional WMA allowance of 10% will be provided, along with 35 days of leave plus public holidays and scheduled university closures.

Development pathways are available, including upskilling to PhD level and postgraduate teaching qualifications.
