Job description

Job Title: Lecturer in Welding

Location: Middlesbrough College Main Campus, TS2 1AD

Department: Motor Vehicle & Welding

Reporting to: Associate Director Curriculum

Salary: £29,565 - £43,562 per annum (subject to a progression criteria)

Annual Leave: 45 days per annum plus bank holidays

Contractual hours: 37 hours per week

Teaching hours: 864 hours per annum

Basis: Full time, Permanent

Pension: Teachers' Pension Scheme

We’re looking for a motivated and forward-thinking educator to join our team and help shape the future of learning. In particular, we are seeking someone with strong practical expertise in welding techniques and safety procedures, who can inspire learners through hands‑on instruction and real‑world applications. You will play a key role in developing learners’ proficiency in areas such as MIG, TIG and arc welding, metal fabrication, blueprint reading, and equipment maintenance, while also fostering critical thinking, problem‑solving, and workplace readiness.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Lecturer in Welding, you will:

  • Deliver and manage high‑quality, inclusive teaching, learning, and assessment in Welding
  • Provide hands‑on and theoretical instruction in specific areas.
  • Support students’ academic and personal growth, helping them achieve their full potential.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that connect classroom learning to real‑world applications.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the learning experience and address the needs of all students.
  • Support student recruitment, retention, achievement, and progression, providing guidance and tailored support.
What We’re Looking For

We seek candidates who:

  • Are a qualified Teacher or willing to work towards (subject to enrolment criteria).
  • Are a qualified assessor or willing to work towards.
  • Hold a minimum of a Level 3 in Welding.
  • Have GCSEs at Grade C / Level 4 or above in English and Maths, or equivalent.
