Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Lecturer in Sport to join the team on a full time, permanent basis. In return,you will receive a competitive salary of £31,930 to £42,454 pro rata per annum. (Unqualified teachers £25,297 to £31,930 pro rata per annum.)

We are a high-achieving college who attract around 2,800 sixth form students across the region each year. We are based within the stunning New Forest National Park and offer our students a huge range of courses and superb facilities.

About The Role

As the Lecturer in Sport, you will continually improve the learning experience and achievement of students through effective teaching & learning.

Responsibilities As Our Lecturer In Sportwill Include

  • Teaching on courses as agreed with the Head of Department.
  • Acting as a Course Manager, when requested.
  • Preparing and marking student work, monitor progress towards individual targets, keep records and provide timely reports/reviews to students, parents, employers and College managers, as appropriate.
  • Working closely with other colleagues to respond to the needs of students.
  • Pay due attention to the principles of inclusive learning including:
  • individual learning styles;
  • support for students with learning difficulties and disabilities;
  • extension resources/activities for students of higher ability;
  • general resources, including the use of Information Learning Technology.
  • Contributing to the design, delivery and future planning and development of the curriculum.
  • Contributing to the teaching/learning resource bank for the relevant subject/course.
  • Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of developments in the relevant subject/course.

As Our Lecturer In Sport, You'll Ideally Have

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in Sport / Physical Education
  • A football or rugby coaching qualification, or willingness to achieve one
  • Record of continuous professional and career development
  • High quality teaching of L3 BTEC and A Level PE to pupils of all abilities
  • Knowledge and understanding of current developments in the relevant curriculum area
  • Evidence of working towards and achieving personal targets
  • Empathy with and strong commitment to meeting the needs of individual students
