Job description

College of Business, Tech. & Engineering

Grade 7 - £39,906 to £44,746 per annum (depending on experience)

We are seeking to recruit a RICS-qualified Real Estate professional who can bring current, practical industry knowledge into an applied academic environment. We welcome applications from those with professional experience in commercial or residential real estate, planning and development and/or real estate and property law and practice.

You do not need extensive teaching experience. What matters is your ability to translate professional practice into engaging learning experiences and to contribute to a supportive and learner-centred environment.

We particularly welcome candidates who can embed real-world examples, professional casework, RICS-aligned methodologies and contemporary industry issues into their teaching. An awareness of current national and international trends in the real estate sector is ideal.

This is an opportunity to bring your experience into a new setting, combining teaching with curriculum development, academic guidance, applied learning and engagement with industry. You will help students develop the knowledge, professional judgement, behaviours and ethical standards they need for their future careers.

Your background may include working in or advising commercial or residential real estate organisations, consultancies, developers, investors or public-sector bodies. You will be MRICS or FRICS and have a relevant degree, professional qualification or equivalent experience, with well-developed expertise in at least two areas of real estate.

If you are moving into academia, we will support you to develop your teaching practice and gain an academic teaching qualification.

You will join a collaborative, multidisciplinary community within Sheffield Business School, where real estate connects with finance, law, economics, strategy and sustainability.

The University currently enrols eligible academic staff into the Teachers’ Pension Scheme (TPS), a defined-benefit pension scheme.

The University may be able to sponsor the employment of international applicants in this role; this will depend on a number of factors specific to the individual applicant. You are advised to assess your eligibility against the criteria set out in the UKVI Guidance before applying.

We welcome applications for job-share, part-time and flexible working arrangements.
