Job summary

Weston College is seeking a part-time Lecturer in Public Services to deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment across Public Services programmes. You will tutor students, support attendance and progression, and contribute to achievement of targets in the department.

Applicants should hold a degree-level or professional qualification relevant to Public Services, and either possess a recognised Teaching Qualification or commit to gaining it within three years with support from the

Responsibilities

• Providing high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment across a number of Public Services programmes as agreed with the Head of Area.
• Tutorship of students, showing sensitivity to their needs and encouraging the highest possible standards.
• Meeting targets with reference to student progress on programme, for their attendance and retention.
• Providing advice and guidance to students in their progression to employment or further courses within the College.

Job description

We are recruiting for one part-time role, working 14.8 hours per week within our Public Services team, based at Knightstone Campus. Interviews for this role will take place on-site, in Weston-super-Mare. As a Lecturer in Public Services, you will be responsible for:

• Providing high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment across a number of Public Services programmes as agreed with the Head of Area.
• Tutorship of students, showing sensitivity to their needs and encouraging the highest possible standards.
• Meeting targets with reference to student progress on programme, for their attendance and retention.
• Providing advice and guidance to students in their progression to either employment or other courses within the College.
  Degree-level or professional qualification, which is appropriate to the work.
• Excellent organisational, administrative and communication skills.
• Teaching Qualification - If you do not possess a recognised Teaching Qualification, you will be required to gain this qualification within your first three years of service (with the assistance of the College).
