Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Lecturer in Professional Food and Beverage Service to join the team on a part time, permanent basis. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £31,930 to £42,454 pro rata per annum. (Unqualified teachers £25,297 to £31,930 pro rata per annum.)

We are a high-achieving college who attract around 2,800 sixth form students across the region each year. We are based within the stunning New Forest National Park and offer our students a huge range of courses and superb facilities.

About the role:

As the Lecturer in Professional Food and Beverage Service, you will deliver inspiring teaching, learning, and assessment, ensuring high levels of quality and student satisfaction, excellent outcomes and strong progression. To deliver City and Guilds Craft Courses within an industry standard environment, maintaining high quality operational standards required by the College and the awarding organisations.


Responsibilities as our Lecturer in Professional Food and Beverage Service will include:

  • Delivering ambitious, inspiring and stimulating teaching and learning across courses in the suite of qualifications in the curriculum area
  • As required, creating and contributing to ensuring that all subject-related documentation such as schemes of work, assessment plans, assessments and mock exams are high quality, fit for purpose and regularly updated
  • Promoting inspirational and innovative teaching, learning and assessment across the Curriculum Area
  • Alongside the Curriculum Leader, ensuring that all internal college-related quality processes and procedures, are effectively undertaken in line with college requirements
  • Ensuring that student progress is tracked effectively
  • Where appropriate, supporting to ensure that where student marks need to be uploaded externally, that this is completed accurately and in a timely manner
  • Organising external bookings for MJ’s restaurant and its operational running, including the management of bar stock
  • Fulfilling the responsibilities of a teacher as laid out in the teacher job description and the Teachers’ Standards

As our Lecturer in Professional Food and Beverage Service, you’ll ideally have:

  • A degree level qualification or relevant industry experience
  • A teaching qualification relevant to post-16 education (or the willingness to undertake such qualification).
  • A commitment to represent and embed a culture of equity, diversity and inclusion across the work of the College.
  • A belief in the advantages, benefits and ethos of a post-16 college experience.
  • The experience and ability to successfully teach a subject in the Curriculum Area.
  • The ability to analyse data to inform decision making and drive improvements in outcomes.
  • Evidence of relevant continued professional development and/or training.
