Job Responsibility:
Here at Sheffield Hallam University we deliver teacher training in undergraduate BA and postgraduate PGCE in Early Years and Primary and Early Years education. We are looking for a lecturer who could contribute to these areas at all levels of delivery. The role will include learning, teaching and assessment of students at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level. The role will also include working with partners who provide trainee education placements. Depending on your experience, you may be asked to contribute to other related teaching at Masters level, providing opportunities to contribute to teams across the SIOE. We also encourage staff to continue to develop their own research profile and there are varied opportunities and support to do this for all academic staff. Our aim is to provide the highest quality teaching and learning, through large and smaller group teaching and some online learning, the design of curricula, and the development of our teaching team's specialist skills. You must have a postgraduate qualification and/or substantial professional experience in a relevant discipline and expertise in teaching Early Years and a range of Primary and Early Years subjects, in addition to professional learning. The ability to design and deliver transformative and innovative learning experiences is also essential.
The Primary and Early Years Subject Group Sheffield Institute of Education, Sheffield Hallam University is the 6th largest university in the UK with a focus on excellence in applied learning for over 30000 students of which 4000 are from overseas. Education courses, research, innovation and knowledge exchange activities are housed in the Sheffield Institute of Education (SIOE) part of the College of Social Science and Art. The SIOE's research, knowledge exchange and continuing professional development work aims to improve outcomes for children and young people and enhance the experience of education, child and family professionals. An important focus is evaluation and development of programmes, policies and innovations to support educational improvements and well-being. It focuses on four main areas: curriculum, pedagogy and learning; policy and professional learning; diversity and social justice; theoretical and methodological innovation.
