Job description

Lecturer in Post Production Sound (Film)

Royal Conservatoire of Scotland

Deadline: 25 August 2025 at 23:55

Part time (7 hours per week)
Fixed term for 12 months initially
Salary: £43,097 per annum (£8,619 pro rata)

We are: looking for a Lecturer with experience in post-production sound in film and television (Pro-Tools) to create and deliver a syllabus to specialist sound students on the BA Filmmaking programme. The role will include delivering practical lectures as well as supervising and assessing on student productions (post-sound). You will work closely with the Location Sound Lecturer in co-delivering the Sound modules across Year 1 and Year 2 of the programme. There is scope for this to increase to Year 3 moving forward. This post is ideal for someone who may still want to continue working in the professional sector but develop in the area of education.

You will be: responsible for creating and delivering a syllabus for the post-sound part of the Sound modules in Year 1 and Year 2, as well as being responsible for all assessment and feedback in the module. You will work closely with the Location Sound Lecturer in making sure the module is delivered successfully.

You should: be proficient in the use of Pro-Tools in a film/tv environment and have appropriate professional experience in this area. Lecturing experience is preferred but relevant professional and technical experience is more important.

At the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland we are committed to improving representation to the benefit of students, staff and our wider community. While we will be recruiting to this post on merit, we are particularly keen to encourage applications from appropriately experienced candidates from a minority ethnic background.
