Job summary

Bath College is seeking a Personal Development Lecturer to deliver high-quality group tutorials for 16–19 learners at the City Centre Campus. You will contextualise PD materials and support enrichment and wider PD activity.

This permanent, full-time role requires a Level 5 teaching qualification, strong English skills and experience in pastoral support or youth work. The campus offers a collaborative, inclusive environment with opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications

• Level 5 teaching qualification (DET/DTLLS) or willingness to work towards one.
• GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above).
• Strong written English and confident group facilitation skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, inclusive group tutorials for our 16-19 provision at the City Centre Campus.
• Contextualise centrally produced PD resources for vocational learner groups.
• Facilitate sensitive topics using preventative, trauma‑informed approaches.
• Complete safeguarding documentation, tracking and follow‑up in line with policy.
• Support enrichment, campaigns, events and wider PD activity.
• Contribute to PD resource creation for additional learner groups.
• Build positive relationships with learners and promote inclusion and participation.
• Work collaboratively with curriculum, welfare, safeguarding, enrichment and Student Voice teams.

Permanent contract, 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year
Monday to Thursday 8:30 am - 5 pm
Friday 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.
Unqualified Lecturer Salary (P25-P27 £30,348.15 - £32,186.70)
Qualified Lecturer Salary L5 and above (P27-P35 £32,186.70 - £40,015.50)

We are looking for an enthusiastic and inclusive Personal Development Lecturer to deliver high‑quality, preventative group tutorials for learners within our curriculum areas at the City Centre Campus. This role is central to ensuring consistent, compliant and engaging Personal Development delivery across one of our key vocational pathways.

You will teach group tutorials, contextualise centrally produced PD materials, and support enrichment, campaigns and wider PD activity. The role also includes agreed weekly enrichment support, helping to strengthen learner participation, wellbeing and inclusion.

This position is ideal for someone with strong facilitation skills and a background in youth work, pastoral support, counselling, mentoring or other holistic roles, or someone ready to develop within a supportive, values‑driven team.

What you'll bring

Essential

• Level 5 teaching qualification (DET/DTLLS) or willingness to work towards one
• GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above)
• Strong written English and confident group facilitation skills
• Experience delivering learning or group‑based support in an educational, youth, community or pastoral setting
• Understanding of safeguarding, Prevent and inclusive practice
• Ability to work with diverse learner groups, including SEND and foundation learning
• Strong organisational skills and commitment to ongoing CPD

Desirable

• A background in ESOL
• Experience in youth work, counselling, mentoring, pastoral or community roles
• Experience creating learning resources
• Experience delivering PSHE, RSE, wellbeing or employability content
• FE experience (16–19, apprenticeships, adult or community learning)
• Confidence supporting enrichment or student‑led activity
• Understanding of restorative and early‑intervention approaches
• Experience using digital platforms such as SharePoint or Grofar
