Job summary

Cheshire College South and West is seeking an inspirational Lecturer to join the Motor Vehicle department at Crewe Campus. The role involves preparing and teaching a range of Motor Vehicle Service and Repair courses, with desriable PHEV/EV/MOT/Air Conditioning elements, and contributing to learner progress and assessment.

The post offers a permanent contract, excellent facilities, and opportunities for staff development and progression, including DBS checks and a supported teaching qualification

  • Level 3 or above in Motor Vehicle Service and Repair or equivalent.
  • GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or higher).
  • PGCE or commitment to work towards.
  • Minimum 3 years industry experience.
  • Up-to-date industry experience.
  • Enhanced DBS check.

Job description

Salary: £28,997 - £43,748 (per annum)
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: 37 per week
Location: Crewe Campus

We are looking for an inspirational Lecturer to take on an exciting new role within our Motor Vehicle department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and teach on a range of Motor Vehicle Service, (PHEV, Electrical Vehicle, MOT Test, Air Conditioning - Desirable) and Repair courses;
  • Contribute to aspirational teaching, learning and assessment; and
  • Keep accurate records for learners' progress in College.
Key Person Specification Requirements
  • Level 3 or above (or equivalent) in a discipline related to Motor Vehicle Service and Repair;
  • GCSE Grade C (4/5) in English and Maths;
  • PGCE or commitment to work towards;
  • Minimum 3 years industry experience;
  • Up-to-date industry experience;
  • Understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion in work and the learning environment;
  • Up-to-date occupational experience; and
  • Enhanced DBS check.

We welcome applications from Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs) and from current industry practitioners who do not have a teaching qualification. Anyone joining the College will be part of a Lecturer Development Programme which provides staff with a range of support and training based on previous experience and individual need. The programme will offer a range of support and development opportunities, including inductions related to all College systems and processes, an assigned curriculum mentor and regular 1-2-1 support from the Quality team. Industry experts who do not currently hold a teaching qualification will be supported through our 'Introduction to Teaching at Cheshire College South & West 12-week programme.
