[ About the Role]
We are looking for Law Lecturer (Academic and Education Route) for this 1.0 FTE permanent position. The role holder will be expected to convene modules and contribute to our portfolio of law teaching. In particular, the role holder will teach across one or two compulsory modules (comprised of Criminal Law, Contract Law, Public Law, Property Law, Tort Law, and European Union Law). The role holder will also co-convene and teach on various clinical and vocationally-oriented modules. The role holder, working alongside our current Director of Clinics and Careers, will help strengthen our clinical programme, bridging our curriculum with legal practice and strengthening our partnerships with stakeholders beyond the university sector. It is desirable for the role holder to have practiced English law and have interest or expertise in legal practice or scholarship mandate regions (Africa, Asia, and the Middle East) or their diasporas. The role holder will also be expected to contribute to team-taught modules across the School of Law, to supervise undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations, and to work in a collegial and collaborative manner with staff across the Department. Since this is an education-focused position, there is no expectation for the role holder to engage in research, although pedagogic scholarship in support of teaching is desirable.
Please note: It would be desirable for the role holder to be a Fellow of the HEA/ Advance HE but, if not, SOAS will support them in applying to Advance HE.
