Job summary

Dovetail & Slate Ltd in the West Midlands is seeking a Lecturer in Land Based Engineering on a temporary basis. You will deliver practical and theoretical teaching, assess student work, and tutor groups while building industry links to enrich learning outcomes.

You will support learners toward successful programme completion, contribute to curriculum development, and help students progress in land‑based engineering careers. Teaching qualification support is provided.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Agricultural Engineering or NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicles is required.
• GCSE English Language and Maths or equivalent is required.
• Strong practical and technical knowledge within land based engineering.
• Desirable: related degree or equivalent qualification.
• Desirable: teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one.
• You don’t need prior teaching experience; support to gain qualification is provided.

Responsibilities

• Delivering formal scheduled teaching and managing learning programmes.
• Assessing and marking student work, and providing regular feedback on progress.
• Acting as a group tutor, monitoring progress and serving as an academic point of contact.
• Assisting in the development of existing and new course provision.
• Generating and maintaining employer relationships to support the curriculum.
• Recording student data and attendance accurately.

Are you an experienced land based engineering professional looking to pass your trade knowledge on to the next generation?

About the Role

A further education provider in the West Midlands is looking for a Lecturer in Land Based Engineering to join its teaching team. You'll deliver scheduled teaching and tutorials across practical and theory sessions, supporting learners to progress towards successful completion of their programmes.

Alongside teaching, you'll assess and mark student work, act as a group tutor, contribute to curriculum development and build links with industry employers to enrich the learner experience.

Your responsibilities will include:
