Job description

Job Title: Lecturer in Land Based Engineering

Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Salary: £30,000 - £36,000

Location: Based at a college in Hull

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to make a significant contribution to teaching and learning as a Lecturer in Land Based Engineering.

The primary purpose of this role is to assure the quality of the student learning experience by delivering scheduled teaching and tutorials, supporting learners to progress toward successful completion. The successful candidate will also undertake group tutor responsibilities, assess and mark student work, develop curriculum, manage learning environments, and build links with industry employers to enrich the student experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching & Assessment: Deliver formal scheduled teaching, manage learning programmes, provide regular student assessments, and supervise educational visits.
  • Student Support & Guidance: Act as a Group Tutor, monitor student progress, maintain morale and discipline, and provide an academic point of contact for students and parents/guardians.
  • Curriculum Development: Assist in developing existing and new course provisions, as well as maintaining quality files and course reviews.
  • Employer & Quality Links: Generate and maintain employer relationships, and collaborate with validating bodies and external examiners.
  • Administration & Marketing: Accurate recording of student data and attendance, and active participation in college marketing and promotional events.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
Essential Qualifications
  • NVQ Level 3 in Agricultural Engineering OR NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicles
  • Related degree or equivalent qualification
  • GCSE English Language and Maths (or equivalent)
  • Appropriate teaching qualification, or a willingness to work towards achieving one
