Contract Type: Fixed Term to 31/07/2027

The University for the Creative Arts is seeking a committed Lecturer to join our Craft Programme at UCA Farnham on a fixed term, part-time (0.6 FTE) basis. We are looking for an individual with specialist expertise in contemporary jewellery, underpinned by strong technical making skills and a deep understanding of material-led, process-driven approaches. You will be passionate about your subject, innovative in your teaching, and confident working across theory and practice, with an ability to engage students in the expanded field of craft and its position within contemporary art and design. An ability to contribute to the broader suite of Craft Courses and collaborate across disciplines is essential.

The role involves teaching and supervision at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, as well as contributing to curriculum development, assessment, and course management. You’ll also be encouraged to pursue research, scholarship, and professional practice, and take part in recruitment, outreach, and commercial activities. Experience of teaching in higher education—or equivalent professional experience—is required. You should demonstrate a strong awareness of contemporary critical issues in art and craft and a commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion, and widening participation.

Our campuses across Surrey and Kent are vibrant communities, each specialising in different areas of the creative industries. You will be based in Farnham, which has been designated a ‘World Craft City’ by UNESCO due to its rich heritage of craft industry and education. Join us in shaping a forward-thinking and inclusive community of makers and thinkers, preparing students for sustainable careers in the creative industries.

The actual salary for the role working 21.75 hours per week is £24,638 to £28,433 per annum.

At UCA, creativity and innovation are at the heart of what we do. Our legacy of educating eager and passionate artists, makers and thinkers runs back almost 160 years, and today we’re helping shape a global future that supports and nourishes talent worldwide.

Our campuses across Surrey and Kent are vibrant communities, each specialising in different areas of the creative industries. We are also home to a thriving research hub, with academic experts and fellows leading the way in research on sustainability, design, textiles, animation, history and culture, and more.

Are you ready to share your passion for creativity with the next generation of innovators? If so, we want to hear from you.

The University for the Creative Arts (UCA) aims to be a welcoming and inclusive University that is truly representative of all sections of society. We particularly encourage applications from people from minoritised ethnic groups and people with disabilities who are currently under-represented within the University
