Job Description:

Job Title: Lecturer in Health and Social Care

Salary: Up to 45k per annum

Reports to: Head of School / Programme Leader

Hours of work: 40 hours per week, Mon-Thurs 9am-9pm, Fri-Sun 9am-6pm

Location: Flexible across all campuses including Holborn, Wembley, Kingsbury, Southall

Overall Purpose:

The Lecturer will design, develop, and deliver modules, ensuring student engagement and achievement across face-to-face and online formats, supporting the overall student experience.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Teaching and Learning:
  • Teach sessions weekly, including lectures, seminars, tutorials.
  • Maintain attendance records and collaborate with the attendance team.
  • Deliver sessions aligned with programme specifications.
  • Utilize VLEs and MS Teams for teaching.
  • Develop and update teaching materials and class notes.
Assessment and Marking:
  • Set and support timely assessments.
  • Participate in moderation and standardization.
  • Provide formative and summative feedback.
Student Support:
  • Address engagement and performance issues.
  • Signpost students to support services.
Quality Assurance:
  • Complete module evaluations and contribute to programme reviews.
  • Engage in continuous improvement and accreditation processes.
Scholarship and External Engagement:
  • Engage in scholarship to support teaching.
  • Develop external networks and participate in research activities.
Managing People and Resources:
  • Coordinate with colleagues and support staff.
  • Manage projects and external activities.
  • Support student recruitment and marketing efforts.
Person Specification:
Experience & Personal Qualities:
  • Knowledge of HE quality assurance and curriculum development.
  • Experience in higher education and engaging teaching techniques.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Research and enterprise experience preferred.
Technical Skills:
  • Digital proficiency in learning technologies.
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas.
Education & Professional Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in relevant discipline.
  • Fellowship of the HEA or willingness to attain within 12 months.
  • PhD or equivalent preferred.
  • Teaching qualification or willingness to work towards.
